Who can apply
Access is open to UZH-affiliated translational life science projects. This includes:
- UZH Entrepreneur Fellows in biotech and medtech
- Recipients of the UZH Innovation Grant
- Alumni of the UZH Entrepreneur Fellowship program
- Bridge-funded projects and other UZH research teams with a clear translational focus

Application Process
Applications to the UZH IncubatorLab are accepted on a rolling basis. The process is designed to identify projects with strong translational relevance and clear infrastructure needs.
Interested teams complete an online application form outlining their project scope, objectives, and anticipated use of lab space and equipment. Applications are reviewed by a board of experts based on scientific quality, potential for real-world impact, and fit with the lab’s infrastructure and capacity.
Shortlisted applicants may be contacted for additional information or an onboarding conversation. Upon approval, access can typically begin within a few weeks, depending on space availability and resource alignment.
Access Model
Access to the UZH IncubatorLab is granted through a selective application process and is tailored to each project’s stage and needs.
-
UZH research teams (e.g. Entrepreneur Fellows, Innovation Grant recipients) are offered free access to lab space and equipment.
-
Incorporated spin-offs (within 2 years of founding) may use the lab under a rental agreement, with modest fees based on actual equipment usage and shared consumables.
-
Reagents and project-specific materials are provided by users.
Access is typically granted for 12 months (18 months for UZH Entrepreneur Fellows), with the option to request an extension based on progress and available capacity. All users are expected to align with the lab’s collaborative spirit and contribute to a professional, shared working environment.
